Our compilers now provides instrinsics including sys.Ctz64 that support CTZ (count trailing zero) instructions. This CL replaces the Go versions of CTZ with the compiler intrinsic. Count trailing zeros CTZ finds the least significant 1 in a word and returns the number of less significant 0s in the word. Allocation uses the bitmap created by the garbage collector to locate an unmarked object. The logic takes a word of the bitmap, complements, and then caches it. It then uses CTZ to locate an available unmarked object. It then shifts marked bits out of the bitmap word preparing it for the next search. Once all the unmarked objects are used in the cached work the bitmap gets another word and repeats the process. Binary Distribution Notes
If you have just untarred a binary Go distribution, you need to set the environment variable $GOROOT to the full path of the go directory (the one containing this file). You can omit the variable if you unpack it into /usr/local/go, or if you rebuild from sources by running all.bash (see doc/install-source.html). You should also add the Go binary directory $GOROOT/bin to your shell's path.
For example, if you extracted the tar file into $HOME/go, you might put the following in your .profile:
export GOROOT=$HOME/go
export PATH=$PATH:$GOROOT/bin
